It can be downright scary to make a significant life change like starting a new career. Yet sometimes, the pieces fall right into place. That's exactly what happened for Sharon G. Aubuchon, a Realtor with RE/MAX Premier Realty who, five years ago, decided on a whim to get her real estate license. I spent 20 years in the corporate world as general manager and VP of sales for a Fortune 500 technology company and owned my own business, a promotional products company that served as the clothing sponsor for the Kansas City Chiefs Ambassador for 10 years, she said. I moved a lot as a kid and have always been fascinated by the process of selling and buying a home. After she made the decision to pursue a real estate career, she found herself sitting next to a Realtor on an airplane. She talked to me the whole time and said, You'd be great. You've got to do it, Aubuchon said. Following that flight, I had a conversation with a neighbor I hadn't met, Geri (Higgins, owner of Portfolio Kitchen & Home), and she said real estate would be a great fit. I decided those were signs and got my license. In just five short years, Aubuchon has skyrocketed to success, accruing sales figures that put her among the top 1 percent of Kansas City real estate agents. Among RE/MAX's 108,000 agents, Aubuchon is in its top 0.5 percent. Last year alone, Aubuchon sold more than 70 homes. Her secret? Versatility and a perpetual desire to ensure client satisfaction comes first. I have a business background, and I've been through many training classes in marketing, finance, budgeting and running my own business, she said. My success is my background, combined with my drive and my motivation. Aubuchon credits her successful battle against breast cancer as a testament to her strength and perseverance, two traits that are invaluable in her line of work. She also described herself as a people-pleaser, and said she caresmore about people loving their homes than making money. That's why her client relationships rarely end once the real estate transaction is complete. Today, for example, I received a call from a client who needed someone to work on wood floors, she said. I feel like my service doesn't stop at the closing. If someone wants to call me later with a question or in need of a contact, I give the client that information. I'm going to be there for them. That dedication to and singular focus on each client supports Aubuchon's larger goal: to make selling or buying a home stress-free. To accomplish that goal, she draws on an attribute that she called being turn-key. I come in, I do everything. If the house needs to be painted, I get bids. If it needs to be staged, I'll get a stager. For overextended and stressed homeowners or buyers, Aubuchon's expertise and leadership is a welcome relief. Sharon goes out of her way to ensure that your buying and selling processes are smooth, wrote a client in a recent review on Zillow.com. I personally recommend Sharon because she went above and beyond for me, even coming over during a couple of hot afternoons to water flowers I had planted while I was out of town. Aubuchon also excels at spotting opportunities not only for her own professional growth, but also for her clients. One example? She recently had a listing featured on HGTV's House Hunters and is now seeking a family interested in appearing with her on an episode of the show. Technology is continuing to change the game not just for Realtors, but also for buyers and sellers. Aubuchon has embraced new technology-enabled capabilities, such as taking professional drone photos to showcase new listings and creating 3D walk-through tours that are especially compelling for large homes with complex floor plans. With her track record and commitment to her profession, Aubuchon could likely work with any real estate firm. Yet after a visit to the RE/MAX corporate office in Denver, she was blown away and quickly realized the company's greatest asset. RE/MAX has a whole behind-the-scenes system called RE/MAX Main Street that gives us tools and marketing resources to do anything we could possibly want to do with our listings, she said. RE/MAX agents sell a home every 30 seconds, and I came to the company for the simple fact that they're number one. I couldn't find anyone else to match the tools they have for sellers. While juggling a busy schedule and a myriad professional demands, it seems difficult to picture Aubuchon enjoying any downtime. Yet when she does, it's likely she's with her animals: Sadee, a 3-year-old Australian Shepherd rescue; Baby Kitty, who Aubuchon rescued from a home she was showing after finding the kitten trapped in the basement; and Sophia, a kitten left in the street after the mother cat was hit by a car. http://www.topagentmagazine.com/profiles/2016/11/SHARON-AUBUCHON.pdf
